Endoscopy sinks for Nuffield Wetherby Hospitals Sterile Services Unit

These bespoke sinks rise and fall to suit user height

Nuffield SSU offer a quality decontamination service

Nuffield Health Hospitals Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) is a division offering custom decontamination services for reusable medical devices, like surgical instruments, from seven units across England. They also provide expert transportation of these devices.

A long standing customer

The Nuffield HSSU has been a customer of Pland Stainless for many years, as many of the stations they work at are made from stainless steel.  This most recent order was to supply new and bespoke products for the Nuffield HSSU unit in Wetherby, which is one of seven such units in the UK, and it primarily looks after four of the Nuffield hospitals plus regional customers

The HSSU offers a quality decontamination service

Pland Stainless designed, manufactured, and delivered two rise-and-fall endoscopy sinks for the Wetherby unit. These large-format sinks have been specifically designed by Pland for the healthcare market. They are available in standard double bowl, single drainer and double drainer configurations, and many supplied are manufactured to bespoke requirements giving the end user the flexibility to obtain a unit which works the best for their site. In this case the endoscopy sinks were both made 1800mm long to suit room requirements.

These endoscopy sinks were supplied with a motorised rise-and-fall functionality that can be adjusted by remote control from 786mm to 1200mm in height, accommodating various user heights. This makes it an altogether more comfortable workstation to operate for long periods.

Pland also replaced two static stainless steel sinks in the refurbishment.

Nuffield were delighted with the new stainless steel units

Vicki Johnson, Unit Manager at Nuffield Wetherby, said of the Pland product: “The excellent hygienic properties of stainless steel are recognised by its use for surgical instruments and medical implants, so it is an ideal material for a work station that deals in decontamination. It is also a very hard-wearing material that is easy to keep clean. Pland Stainless has been making these bespoke endoscopy units for many years, and the rise and fall feature makes it a much more comfortable workstation for our team, too. We have purchased a number of these models over the years and are very pleased with the product and its functionality.”
