Pland Stainless has just completed the supply of stainless steel freestanding worktop tables, a catering sink, wall cabinets and a hand-wash basin for the Henry Royce Institute building, part of the University of Manchester. Providing a robust product solution for this self-service catering area for students and staff.

Supporting advanced materials research

The Henry Royce Institute is the UK’s national institute for advanced materials research and innovation. It was set up to accelerate the invention and take-up of new materials systems that will meet global challenges and enhance industrial productivity.  The Royce Hub Building is at the University of Manchester and is a Partnership of nine leading institutions – the universities of Cambridge, Imperial College London, Liverpool, Leeds, Oxford, Sheffield, the National Nuclear Laboratory, and UKAEA, and two Associate Partners, Cranfield University and the University of Strathclyde.

The student and staff kitchen area sits alongside a central social area designed for both collaborative meetings and a rest space for breaks from work.
