New Tube Laser Cutting Machine Investment

Pland Stainless has invested in a new 3 kW Tube Laser Cutting Machine for its Leeds manufacturing facility. This latest addition enhances its capability to deliver precise tube cutting across a wide range of profiles, streamlining production of a wide range of its stainless steel commercial products.

A tube laser cutter is a specialised, computer-controlled device that uses a powerful laser beam to cut, shape, and profile metal tubes, pipes, and open structural sections. Unlike traditional flat-sheet laser machines, it uses a clamping system to securely hold and rotate the material 360 degrees, while a multi-axis laser head performs complex cuts. Metal tubes are automatically fed into the machine and held in place by rotating chucks. CNC technology connected to CAD/CAM software controls the laser and coordinates it with the tube’s rotation. The focused laser melts or vaporises the metal precisely, and high-pressure gas blows away the molten material, resulting in a smooth, clean edge. 

The benefit to Pland is that it can cut holes, slots, mitres, tabs, and weld-preps in a single automated cycle, eliminating the need for traditional sawing, drilling, and manual notching. It also ensures tight tolerances with minimal heat distortion.
