Leeds’ manufacturer Pland Stainless is continuing to grow its apprenticeship scheme started 20 months ago. They now have apprentices across many disciplines in the business and contribute to Pland’s continuous development. They are seen as strategic to Pland’s development and are an important part of the succession plan for the company.

Three apprentices started with Pland in September 2014 and were placed in the Welding, Warehouse and Maintenance teams. A year later 2 further apprentices were recruited in Welding and the Technical office team. They have just taken on a further apprentice and more are planned for the Autumn.

Ian Hodgson, co-owner of Pland Stainless is delighted at the added value these young recruits have brought to the business. “We have a wealth of staff with years of experience in the business and it’s great to see them share their skills with our young apprentices.” Said Ian. “The apprentices bring fresh new ideas too from their college support and they are now seeing that jobs are available after training as James McNichol demonstrates. He has just been promoted to Warehouse Supervisor and his training will continue to enable him to excel in his chosen career path.”

Established in 1919 Pland has a long-standing reputation for producing stainless steel products mainly for the commercial market. Their products are targeted at many sectors including healthcare, sanitaryware, washrooms, laboratory, education, catering, janitorial and an anti-vandal range for secure accommodation.
